In 1959, amid a visit to the United States of America, Dr. Salah El Mehdi met the President of the Junior Chamber of Ohio State in the USA. This is how he obtained the constitutive file and the working method of the Junior Chamber. Back in Tunis, he handed over the file to Mr. Ferjani BelhajAmmar, President of UTICA at that time.

On February 2, 1961, the founding congress of the Junior Economic Chamber of Tunisia was held. A steering committee made up of 24 members elected Mr.Hassib Ben Ammar as the First President of JCI Tunisia, followed by Mr. Foued Mbazaa who later became himself the President of the Tunisian republic after the Jasmine Revolution.

In 1969, Raouf SANHADJI, National President of the Junior Chamber International of Tunisia, presented the accurate document for temporary membership of JCI Tunisia, helped in this task by the members of the French delegation and more particularly those of the Junior Chamber Economic of Lyons.

A year later, in 1970, Chadli ZOUITEN, National Vice-President, attended the work of the Junior Chamber International of Dublin and presented the final application file of the JCE Tunisia. Since then, JCI Tunisia has become a permanent full member of JCI.
